Ok so there's now a Blog where you can post pictures and make comments about people that shop at your local Walmart. Like the people that shop at Walmart are strange or something. Maybe the people that live in New York city don't know much about WalMart because they're too busy buying $12.00 specialty coffees.
Can you imagine a WalMart Supercenter right in the middle of Downtown New York. I'd pay to see pictures of those people. New York has long been the "hot bed" for strange people and stranger things so putting a WalMart in New York makes a lot of sense.
The thing is that for some reason WalMart has been more of a "Store out in the sticks" kind of place. When I used to live outside of Gainesville, Florida there wasn't anywhere else to go other than WalMart. I don't think we even had a Movie Theater.
The sad thing is that Walmart seems to be getting the negative attention K-Mart(deservedly)got and still gets and I really don't understand why. What makes more sense than building a giant store that houses everything you could ever need all with very low prices.
WalMart tried and then succeeded in putting the Mom & Pop Corner Store out of business and that in itself is a shame. Growing up, making at least one stop at Ralph's Market in Revere, Mass was a daily ritual for me and all of my friends. we knew Ralph personally and so did everyone else that walked through his door and that's what made it so popular.
Those days and those stores are all long gone, replaced by 7-11's and Cumberland Farms and all the other 24-7 Gas Station/Grocery Stores. Back then a loaf of bread and a gallon of milk cost what they were supposed to cost not $5.00 for the bread and $8.00 for the milk. That's the one great thing about Walmart. If you want to save money on your groceries shop at WalMart.
I personally think the Blog that started all this should rename itself. It should be called The People That Work At WalMart. You'll be hard pressed to find one person that works for them that could honestly say they love their job. They are some of the nastiest, meanest people I've ever had the privilege of waiting in line to check-out with and that's the end of this sorry, sorry story.
